Dementia
Dementia is a mental health disorder syndrome that involves the slow decline of brain activity with functions such as memory, judgement, understanding or language. People suffering from dementia may experience difficulties with making simple decisions and often require help from family or friends. Living with dementia can become very difficult as the simplest of choices can be extremely hard to make.
When talking about dementia statistics, in the UK there are around 570,000 people living with and requiring dementia care. According to dementia research, this number is predicted to have doubled within the next 30 years or so. According to the recent information on dementia, you are more likely to develop it if you are over 65 and it has been found that it is ever so slightly apparent with women.
There are 4 different dementia types that have differing effects. These are Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and Frontotemporal dementia. Despite all of the dementia information we currently have, there is no cure for dementia and a lot of people require help with dementia.
Asquith Hall provides dementia care nursing professionals with years of dementia therapy training. They supply dementia help and support for those that are starting to find that life is becoming a bit difficult. This seems to be the case quite often with memory loss dementia. The dementia stages that one goes through will differ from person to person although usually a qualified nurse with dementia training will be able to help.
