Asquith Hall is located in Todmorden overlooking the beautiful Centre Vale Park, it was built as a direct response for a need of high quality care in the local area. Asquith Hall is specifically for people with mental health needs and presentations of Dementia. The home is registered for people aged 40 years upwards and specialises in challenging behaviours often associated with complex needs. Our philosophy of care is quite simply to provide a quality service with personalised packages of care assuming that no two individuals need the same package and that each resident is unique. The understanding that people with similar needs would live together evolved the creation of 2 units within the care home. The ground floor has 25 beds and focuses on long term care for people with Dementia and complex presentations, these residents often pose us with difficult issues around maintaining safety, independence, decision making and management of behaviour. The first floor at Asquith Hall is specifically organised to focus on mental disorder, complex needs and challenging behaviour. There are 28 beds all single and individual en-suites / wet room. Where our younger residents are living alongside those that are older but still very challenging. |
The philosophy of care is replicated on this floor to provide good quality care and excellent surroundings with skilled interventions. We aim to have zero crisis admissions back to hospital for mental health care which todate has been achieved. We monitor every stage of care to maintain the dignity of an individual in what can be a long progessive condition. As part of our philosophy we place great emphasis on maintaining individuals skills for as long as possible whilst able, while building care plans focused on strengths as well as need. After a full assessment residents are assisted at the level of need they require. Pre-admission assessments are completed by the Manager, Janet Thompson, at an agreed time, date and place. She will consider the experiences of the current placement, previous and past carer, professional assessments of needs and the views of the potential resident if possible. This information together with the Managers experience, helps to devise a profile of risk and highlights the residents needs around 15 key areas of care, for example: mental health care, physical care, environmental safety, skills and social needs. |
